On July 25, 2018, Law will stop supporting less secure Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols (TLS 1.0/TLS 1.1), and will require that all internet browsers accessing the Law service use TLS 1.2 or above. This change is to ensure that information is protected using the most widely respected and current TLS protocol.

Most Law users will not have to do anything to prepare for this change, since TLS 1.2 is enabled by default within Internet Explorer 11. Users using an older version of Internet Explorer can enable TLS 1.2 by checking the TLS 1.2 option in their Internet Explorer settings. Versions of Internet Explorer older than IE8 must be upgraded to a more current version that supports TLS 1.2 in order to continue accessing the Law service. The TLS 1.2 protocol is enabled by default in all versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari.

Recommended settings in Internet Explorer:
• Open Internet Explorer
• Go to Tools and select Internet Options
• Select the Advanced tab in Internet Options
• Enable (check) TLS 1.2
• Click on Apply and OK to complete the procedure
