Shaun Courtney


Shaun Courtney is a federal transportation reporter for Government in Washington, D.C. She covers congressional and regulatory news, including funding for the Department of Transportation, infrastructure policy, and new technologies such as driverless cars and drones. 

She regularly interviews lawmakers on the development of legislation, including Republican and Democratic committee leaders in both the House and Senate.

Courtney makes frequent radio appearances on radio, including several on Surveillance. She has also appeared on live and recorded TV programs, including ’ TVs Balance of Power and ABC’s Government Matters

She has moderated panels on topics including private funding for infrastructure, the future of smart cities, self-driving car technology and funding for the Washington, D.C. metro system. 

Prior to joining Government in May 2017, Courtney covered local real estate and economic development news in Washington, D.C.

Her written work has appeared on the front page of The Washington Post. She has also written for the Investigative Reporting Workshop, Washingtonian, AOL News, the Huffington Post and more. 

Courtney holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Investigative Journalism, both from American University.
