Brent V. Miller is the Director of Federal Government Relations and a registered federal lobbyist for the Marshfield Clinic Health System, a multi-specialty group practice and integrated healthcare system with an insurance subsidiary serving patients throughout the predominantly rural counties of North, Central, and West Wisconsin.


Prior to joining Marshfield Clinic, Brent served as the Vice President of Public Policy and Political Affairs for the American Medical Group Association, where his work focused on federal and state health policy affecting coordinated systems of care, including the development of the Resource Based Relative Value Scale and related provisions, including the Medicare Group Specific Volume Performance Standard Demonstration at the Health Care Finance Administration and the Physician Group Practice Demonstration at CMS, and the development of the Managed Competition proposal introduced in the House of Representatives and Health Care Reform plan of the Clinton Administration. Prior to joining AMGA in 1989, Miller served as Administrative Assistant (Chief of Staff) to US Rep. Mike Andrews (D-TX), and as Assistant Administrative Superintendent employed by Harris County (Texas) where his work focused on environmental, storm-water project management and urban development policy and regulation.


He received his bachelor’s degree cum laude in Psychology at the University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas in 1972 and his M.S. in Public Affairs/Environmental Management at the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 1984. Miller serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of think and code’s Medicare Report, he is a member of the National Rural Health Association, the Medical Group Management Association, the American Medical Group Association, and the Healthcare Quality Coalition.
