Jack Fitzpatrick


Jack Fitzpatrick is a congressional reporter for Government, covering the budget and appropriations process.

Fitzpatrick interviews lawmakers on Capitol Hill, including top appropriators and Budget Committee members, and has covered spending-deal negotiations, budget reconciliation instructions, and the fiscal aspects of tax legislation. He has appeared on Radio, MSNBC, NPR and C-SPAN.

Fitzpatrick previously covered energy and environmental policy for Morning Consult and congressional campaigns for National Journal. His first reporting job in Washington was writing for Arizona newspapers, covering the effects of the 2013 federal-government shutdown, among other topics.

Fitzpatrick earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and master's degree in mass communication from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
